MY APPROACH

If you’re anything like me, your small business is not just a business—it’s a calling, something you’re being guided to offer your community. And your website is the online face of that calling.

I bring the heart and soul of your small business to life on the screen. This process is gradual, relational, and collaborative. I only take on one client at a time so I can fully give each project the time it needs to gestate and emerge.

Your website should be beautiful and simple to use, while conveying the essence of the individual or collective it represents. This is my aim with every website I create.

Whether you’re looking to re-design an existing site or create a new website from scratch,

you’ve come to the right place.

THE PROCESS

  • The first step is getting to know each other and exploring your vision for your site. During a 30-45 minute free consultation, you'll share about your values, ethos, and mission, as well as any design ideas you already have. If you're seeking a re-design of an existing website, we'll talk through your likes and dislikes for your current site as well. This can happen in person (I love chatting over tea), or over a video call (I’ll probably still have tea).

  • I usually devote at least one month to each project, up to three months for more complex websites. During this time, I complete the visioning, designing, and web development stages of your website. My process is gradual and spacious, allowing the design to unfold organically with no rushing.

  • Next, we come back together to comb through your site and ensure it’s functional, beautiful, and true to the spirit of your small business. Everything I create for you is my creative suggestion, but you have the final say about everything on your website.

  • Once you are satisfied with your website, I will launch the site and our relationship will typically come to a close.

Some folks choose to keep me on their team when there is a need for ongoing maintenance (such as a business with rotating workshops or special offerings). This can take many forms, and can be discussed at any point in the process.

MEET CECELIA

Hi, I’m Cecelia Sun. I’m a song-singing, poem-writing, sky-gazing, soft-spoken, heart-centered, beauty-making, trying-to-get-more-grounded human being.

I live on the forested banks of the Columbia River in SW Washington with my beloved wife, our wise rabbit Paloma, and our gentle kitten Klaus. I’m a granddaughter, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a partner.

My life is made up of many threads woven together, including work as a pediatric healthcare provider; a student of energy medicine, animism, and earth-based healing practices; a writer and a poet; and a creative who dabbles in a little bit of everything from sewing to music to beading to web design.

 FAQs

  • During your consult call, I will have an intake questionnaire that includes questions about you personally, your offerings, your mission and/or vision for your business or brand, and practical details such as timeline and budget. If you already have copy written or photos taken, I’d love to see these, too—but if you don’t have any of that yet, no worries.

  • Yes. From personal experience, I know that web design is not always in the budget when you're considering starting or revitalizing a small business! I typically ask for 50% of the agreed-upon fee as a deposit, and the remaining 50% at completion of your site. I'm happy to discuss alternate payment schedules as needed, such as splitting payments up over 3, 6, or 10 months.

  • I’m more than happy to provide edits and suggestions for any copy you have written. I do not typically write original copy as part of the web design process, but occasionally I offer this service at an hourly rate for folks who need it. If you think you’ll need original copywriting for your website, we can make a plan for this during your consult call.

  • Yes, I can connect you with referrals for photography, graphic design, and more. For some small businesses, I offer logo design for a small additional fee. And if I’m not a good fit for your needs for whatever reason, I can recommend other web designers.

I can also connect you with folks who do adjacent work, such as space blessings and energy clearings for your work space.

  • I exclusively work with Squarespace at this time. On Squarespace, I can offer a 20% discount on your first year of web hosting as well as a six month free trial that we can use during the website design stage. If you currently have a website and/or domain hosted elsewhere, I can help with the transfer to Squarespace.

  • Typically, Tier I and Tier II websites are ready for an initial launch about 4-6 weeks from our first consultation. Tier III websites may take up to 8 weeks or more, depending on the scope of the site and the number of revisions needed. It's important to me (and I imagine you, too) for your website to beautifully represent you. You're investing a lot into this website - let's honor that by giving your project the space it needs to emerge.

  • That's ok! I actually love this. My job as your website designer is to create a visual online space that represents the essence of your work. If you can tell me about your offerings, your personal values, and your vision or mission for your work, I can create a stellar website that represents all that.

  • I love this too! I would be thrilled to hear your vision and can absolutely make it happen with you. I will still bring my suggestions, my editing eye, and my own creative perspective to the table to ensure your website meets all your needs.
